ProGrid V2 Comes Back Loud, Built on Purpose
Originally launched in 2011, the ProGrid V2 sits firmly in Saucony’s cross-training chapter. This was a moment when runners were actively encouraged to train laterally, strengthen supporting muscles, and reduce injury risk. The shoe was designed to answer that philosophy—versatile, stable, and protective without locking the foot down.
Technically, the foundation stays intact. Forefoot overlasting works in tandem with a full-length EVA midsole, delivering consistent cushioning across the entire platform. It’s a setup meant for varied movement patterns, not just straight-line speed.
Up top, the design balances support and airflow. Pearlized synthetic panels provide medial and lateral structure, while air mesh zones keep breathability in check. It’s very much a product of its time—but that’s exactly where the appeal lies.
The outsole reinforces that versatility mindset. Directional and zonal traction patterns are engineered for multiple surfaces, reflecting the ProGrid V2’s original cross-training intent rather than pure running specialization.
For the revival, Saucony leads with the “Night Call” colorway. Matte and reflective materials interplay across the upper and heel, creating depth and motion depending on light and angle. Statement colors push it firmly into modern lifestyle territory without erasing its performance roots.
The ProGrid V2 doesn’t come back pretending to be something else. It owns its era, its purpose, and its design logic—proof that when a shoe was built with intent, it doesn’t need reinvention. It just needs the right moment to return.
